POSTNET barcodes
Why doesn't the POSTNET barcode that KazStamp prints match the barcodes on other mail I receive?
- There are several different types of POSTNET bar codes. KazStamp
tries to print the 11 digit delivery point code (62 bars), 9 digit ZIP+4
code (52 bars), or 5 digit ZIP code (32 bars) depending on the information
in the destination address. For more information on POSTNET requirements,
see the Domestic Mail Manual.
Can I use KazStamp to get a discount for mass mailing?
- While KazStamp is not certified by the USPS for bulk postage rates. A number of commercial quality products are available (for a lot more money) if you require certification or bulk mailing rates.
Defining Envelopes
How do I define a custom envelope size?
- Open the KazStamp documentation either from the Start menu or from within the program and look in the index under "envelopes". A step by step procedure is listed there.
Keep in mind that KazStamp works best when your printer driver supports the envelope size that you are trying to print.

Why do I get an error that KazStamp could not be started properly from Word or Excel?

Is Office 2007 supported? Why do I get an error in Office 2007?
- Microsoft Office 2007 dramatically changed the user interface by combining menus and toolbars into what Microsoft calls the Ribbon. As a result, the current version of KazStamp is not compatible with Office 2007. We do not currently have a date when a new version will be released that will be compatible with Office 2007.
Printers
How do I print?
- In KazStamp, click on the File > Print Envelope command on the menu bar.
Where is the Printer Setup option on the File menu?
- Your printer setup is stored separately for each envelope defined.
Edit the envelope definition by using the Format > Envelope Sizes to setup
your printer.
I have a new printer. How do I use it in KazStamp?
- The printer is connected to an envelope definition in KazStamp.
So when you add a new printer, you must define a new envelope size for
it. Use the Format > Envelope Sizes command in KazStamp and press the
"Add" button to define a new envelope size. In the first step you
select your new printer and then continue to define the paper size,
orientation, etc. for the new printer.
Why doesn't my graphic print?
- Graphics print correctly for nearly all printers. If you
find that graphics are not printing, please send an e-mail to Kaczynski Software Support
with your printer brand and model so that the problem can be investigated.
Windows
How can I get KazStamp to open the folder where my address files are stored by default?
- Use the Format > KazStamp Options command, select the "File
Locations" tab, and specify the "Default Envelope Folder" to be your
data folder where your address files (.ENV) are stored. (In version 8.5a,
a problem with this function was identified and corrected in version
8.5c).
Why won't KazStamp 8.5c save any information when it is installed on Windows XP?
- KazStamp stores information in file "kazstamp32.ini". In KazStamp versions up to and including 8.5c, this file was
located in the folder where KazStamp is installed (usually "c:\program
files\kazstamp"). The security settings for this folder must be set
to allow KazStamp to udpate file "kazstamp32.ini". Beginning with KazStamp 9.0a, this file is stored by default in an application data folder.
Any envleope
(.env) files should be stored in your "My Documents" folder. All folder locations can be changed using the Format > KazStamp Options menu command from within KazStamp.
Which versions of Microsoft Windows are supported?
- Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003
Is there a version of KazStamp for Liunx?
Will KazStamp work with Windows Vista
or Windows 7?
- We have performed limited testing of KazStamp under Windows Vista and it worked without problems. However, there is no guarantee that KazStamp will work under Windows Vista, especially if your printer is not supported.
We are curretnly working on a new version which
will work with both Windows Vista and Windows 7.
How do I open the help file with Windows Vista
or Windows 7?
- Microsoft decided to disable support for older help file formats in
Windows Vista or Windows 7 by default. See Microsoft support article 917607 for instructions on how to enable support for the older help file format.

Error Messages
Access violation at address 004B07AE in module 'kazstamp.exe'. Read of address 00AF0074.
- This usually occurs when you replace an old printer with a new one. Open KazStamp and use the Format > Envelope Sizes command to open the window with your envelope definitions. Delete any definitions for the printer that you replaced. Click on the "Add" button to define new envelopes for your new printer.
General Questions
How do I change the stamp in KazStamp to match the current stamp price?
- Unfortunately, the post office has increased rates faster than KazStamp can keep up. Since KazStamp does not actually print postage on your envelopes, having the wrong stamp price on the screen does not cause any problems with KazStamp. Keep using KazStamp for your envelopes for now, and this will be corrected in any future releases.
